Mobile Applications

iOS and Android products people keep on the home screen.

A mobile app is not a website in a smaller viewport. It is a piece of software that has to survive a dead network on a train, an OS upgrade you did not ask for, a review board with its own opinions, and a user who will delete it if the first launch takes four seconds.

We build in React Native with a shared TypeScript core when speed and parity matter, and go fully native in Swift or Kotlin when the product lives or dies on platform capability — background processing, secure enclaves, camera and sensor work, or serious animation.

We own the whole lifecycle: architecture, design, build, store submission, release trains, crash triage and the post-launch analytics loop that tells you which feature to build next.

Capabilities

What this practice actually covers.

01

Cross-platform with React Native

One TypeScript codebase, two stores, near-native feel. The right call for most products — and the fastest route to parity between iOS and Android without doubling the team.

  • React Native with the new architecture and Hermes
  • Expo or bare workflow with custom native modules where needed
  • Reanimated and Gesture Handler for 60fps interaction
  • Shared domain logic with your web platform where it makes sense
02

Fully native iOS & Android

When the product depends on platform depth — background sync, widgets, secure enclave, ARKit, CarPlay, complex media — we build native and do it properly.

  • Swift and SwiftUI, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Widgets, App Clips, live activities, Wear OS and watchOS
  • Background tasks, geofencing, BLE and sensor integration
  • Keychain, Keystore, biometric auth and secure enclave usage
03

Offline-first & sync architecture

Connectivity is a feature you cannot control, so we design for its absence. Local-first storage, deterministic conflict resolution and a queue that survives a force-quit.

  • Local database with SQLite, WatermelonDB or MMKV
  • Optimistic UI with reconciliation and conflict rules you choose
  • Durable outbound request queue with retry and backoff
  • Delta sync to keep payloads and battery cost small
04

Performance & device reality

We budget performance the way we budget scope. Cold-start, frame rate, memory and battery targets are set at kickoff and measured on the low-end devices your users actually carry.

  • Cold-start budget under two seconds on mid-tier Android
  • Bundle-size and asset budgets enforced in CI
  • Profiling on a real device matrix, not just simulators
  • Battery and network-usage regression checks per release
05

Release engineering & store operations

Submission is a process, not an event. We manage the pipeline, the metadata, the review responses and the phased rollouts — including the rejections nobody warns you about.

  • Fastlane pipelines, signing, provisioning and CI builds
  • TestFlight and Play internal testing tracks for stakeholders
  • Store listing, ASO copy, screenshots and privacy declarations
  • Staged rollout, kill switches and over-the-air updates
06

Mobile growth & instrumentation

Shipping is the start. We instrument the funnel, wire push and lifecycle messaging, and run the release-to-insight loop that turns installs into retained users.

  • Event schema, funnel tracking and cohort retention dashboards
  • Push notifications, deep links and deferred deep linking
  • In-app purchases, subscriptions and paywall experiments
  • Crash and ANR triage with a weekly stability review

FAQ

Questions about this practice.

Ask us directly
React Native or fully native?
React Native for around three quarters of products — it halves the cost of parity and the gap in feel is now marginal. We go native when the product depends on platform depth, heavy media, or sustained background work. We make that recommendation in the first sprint, with reasons.
Do you handle App Store submission?
Yes, end to end, under your developer accounts: signing, metadata, privacy declarations, review responses and phased rollout. We have shipped through enough rejections to know how to write the appeal.
Can you take over an existing app?
Yes. We start with a stability and architecture audit, fix the top crash cluster within the first release, then work through the remediation plan while shipping features.
What about maintenance after launch?
Mobile is never finished — two OS releases a year see to that. Our mobile retainer covers OS compatibility, SDK upgrades, crash triage and a steady feature cadence.
